The Manikin Simulation (SIM) Lab

First unveiled in 2010, the SIM Lab has become an integral part of the experiential learning experience at CMCC. The lab provides an unparalleled opportunity for learners to rehearse and improve professional and communication skills, as well as develop critical thinking and clinical diagnostic skills in a simulated clinical setting.

CMCC has implemented high-fidelity manikin simulators in the SIM lab which can replicate a wide range of conditions and abnormalities. This technology allows students to practice critical skills such as monitoring and interpreting vital signs (and helps to develop their clinical skills.)

Students are provided the opportunity to experience three manikin simulation labs per undergraduate academic year. Thes experiences focus on developing important professional skills, such as communication and understanding standards of practice, as well as diagnostic and critical thinking skills in the case of health-related emergency events. CMCC is the first chiropractic program in North America to incorporate this technology into its curriculum and provides a unique experience to help students be better prepared for situations they may face in practice.
