Background

Dr. Silvano Mior is a Professor at CMCC, Policy Analyst at the WHO Collaborating Centre on Rehabilitation and Musculoskeletal Health and Adjunct Professor, Faculty of Health Sciences at Ontario Tech University and Institute of Health Policy Management and Evaluation, University of Toronto.

He was Senior Clinical Advisor, Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, contributing to policy matters pertinent to rehabilitation health professionals. Research interests include clinical outcomes and program evaluation, health services, assessing models of interdisciplinary patient-centred collaborative practice, and understanding patients’ experiences, expectations and safety in health care delivery.

He developed and implemented a model of collaboration between chiropractors and physicians and studied the outcomes from provider and patient perspectives. He has participated in international and national committees establishing guidelines for quality assurance and standards of chiropractic practice. He has more than 170 peer-reviewed articles, numerous book chapters and participated in funded research totaling more than CN$4.8 million.
