After finishing my electronic engineering degree, I worked in the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) for five years managing a telecommunications lab. During this time, I developed an interest in education, become a biology teacher, and in pursuing my growing interest in biology, was accepted for a PhD in medical sciences. It was through this work that I received a generous grant from the Israeli Government to continue my PhD research, writing a thesis that combined biology, medical science and biomaterial research examining biological coatings for total hip implants. After finishing my PhD, I was accepted into two postdoctoral fellowships and was involved in teaching and researching for five years. I began at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, looking at neurodegenerative disorders and then moved to the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, studying the cellular mechanisms of cystic fibrosis. Upon finishing my second postdoctoral fellowship at the Sick Children’s Hospital in Toronto, I was asked to join the Anatomy faculty at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, where I currently teach histology, anatomy and neuroanatomy. My most recent work is centered around the effect of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) on PC12 cells. Furthermore, I am interested in the effect of meditation on students performance and am planning several studies that will look into molecular markers of stress pre and post meditation during exam periods. I have always been interested in understanding the bigger picture of any organization, which has led me into my current studies at the University of Fredericton where I am pursuing my MBA.
